Cambalala Hut
Cambalala is a self-catering cottage situated close to the top of Mike’s Pass in the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Cathedral Peak Reserve of the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg. It is accessible by vehicle and offers a fantastic resource for family holidays, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching.
The cottage is open to all members of the Mountain Club of South Africa, and their guests. It may be booked a maximum of six months in advance by members of the KwaZulu-Natal section of the MCSA, and a maximum of three months in advance by members of other sections. The maximum occupancy is 8 adults (16 years and over). The approximate maximum ratio of non-members to members is 2:1.
Mike’s Pass
Mike’s Pass is closed to public use. Only MCSA members accessing Cambalala and those given special permission by Ezemvelo have access. There is a form required that you can obtain when you book. This form gives you access to the pass. Please note that road condition varies throughout the year due to maintenance and weather. It is therefore advisable that you take a vehicle with high ground clearance.

Usage of the hut includes two fees to be paid. First is R100 per night for the hut, which also acts as your deposit. After this, there is a per-person rate of R100/ night for MCSA members and R150/night for non-members. Deposit to be paid at the time of reservation.
